Scene VIII: Murder
Dante and Bea start walking, chatting briefly about how good this party's gonna be, then dante gets a call on his mobile and starts reacting wildly to what he's hearing...its his cousin Jude on the phone and he's telling dante that there's been a big fight and he's bleeding badly, needs help, everyone's run off and he thinks he's dying, some guy called Cassius and his gang jumped him in an alley, vicious attack, doesn't get a chance to say where he is before the line goes dead.....(we don't need to hear jude as dante is relaying all this to Bea as he's hearing it
unbeknownst to all of them, Cassius is running through the labyrinth of alleyways, bloodied and adrenalin charged, straight towards dante and bea.....
we cut to Cassius who's running away from the scene, covered in Jude's blood, charged up and ferociously looking for more beef...Cassius flies off the handle in a rage that encompasses his dark history as a beaten child, young thug and lost adult in a world of pain, knowing the net is closing in around him now, his dna all over the dying Jude, a cornered animal who'll stop at nothing now to escape a certain and lengthy prison term.
Bea, nervous and frightened repeats her pleas to Dante to stay out of trouble and keep her safe...
Dante and Cassius share bars as speed up unknowingly towards each other, Dante trying to reach Jude on the phone but the line is dead (as is Jude now), Cassius trying to find a way out of the labyrinth of alleys and out of London to hide, Dante hears something behind them and tells Bea to run ahead to get her out of harms way, she runs ahead, Dante looks back to see a couple walking past laughing...no trouble behind, he turns back to Bea but she's disappeared round and corner out of sight, he runs to catch up with her......Cassius running, the bloody knife still in his hand, rounds a corner at full speed straight into Bea coming the other way, slamming the knife into her gut with the full force of an olympic javelin thrower....WE FREEZE.....close up on the two faces of Cassius and Bea staring at each other, she looks down, the blade in her up to the hilt, Dante rounds the corner and sees the two of them locked in a deathly embrace, joined by the blade and he screams BEAAAAAAAAA, Cassius moves back and slides the blade out, staring wildly at her as she begins to slump to the floor, already too weak to scream, the rose he gave her only an hour earlier drops to the floor, white petals stained with her dark, red blood .....
in a frozen moment Dante and Cassius stare at each other - DANTE'S FINAL REALISATION OF WHAT HAPPENED THAT NIGHT.....before Cassius turns and bolts back into the darkness and away.....Dante runs over to Dea, calling her name and.....
Dante falls to his knees cupping Bea in his arms, her lifeless body limp as he holds her tight. Bea opens her eyes and looks at him, smiling, telling him she loves him and now he knows, now he can close, now he can let her rest, she will always love him. Dante bows his head to hers and cries as her life slips away in his arms...
